Rihanna Named ‘Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary’ Ambassador for Home Country of Barbados
Barbadian chanteuse Rihanna @badgalriri has been appointed by the Barbadian Government @gisbarbados to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (a person, especially a diplomat, invested with the full power of independent action on behalf of their government). Rihanna has been given specific responsibility for promoting education, tourism and investment for the island. Prime Minister Mia Mottley @mamottley stated that it was an honor for the Government of Barbados to be able to confer the title on an outstanding Barbadian who had contributed significantly to raising the island’s profile across the world. Rihanna was first appointed as a Cultural Ambassador for Barbados in 2008 but this new role takes into consideration her wide range of achievements and her massive worldwide influence across a range of interests. Rihanna was proud to take on the new role stating that she was ready and excited to take on the role and responsibility while looking forward to working with Barbados’ first female Prime Minister and her team
